Peggy Berg honored with 2022 Hunter Conference Excellence and Inspiration Award

The Hunter Hotel Investment Conference is pleased to present to Peggy Berg, founder and president of Project Castell, the Hunter Conference Award for Excellence and Inspiration 2022. Since its inception in 2010, the award recognizes a hotelier who demonstrates leadership, of exceptional citizenship and innovation. From her beginnings as the first elected employee associated with PKF’s Atlanta office until her founding of Project Castell five years ago, Berg has been a catalyst for change within the hospitality industry.

“Peggy’s commitment to improving the hospitality industry fully embodies the spirit of this award. Throughout her career, Peggy has spearheaded efforts to maximize the impact of our industry and uplift the people who make it up. HUNTER is proud to present this award to Peggy and will continue to support her efforts to guide, inspire and champion the next generation of hospitality leaders. – Lee Hunter, President of the Hunter Hotel Investment Conference and COO of Hunter Hotel Advisors

At PKF, Berg worked with individual brands and licensees to create the impact assessment model still in use today. She is the founder of The Highland Group, Hotel Investment Advisors Inc., a nationally recognized consulting firm, and one of the 19 founding members of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants. Together with the ISHC, Berg launched the first CapEx study helping owners and investors better understand the costs of ownership. As a franchisee of Hilton and Choice hotels, Berg understands the benefits and challenges of ownership. She chaired the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association, founded the Extended-Stay Council and co-chaired the Council of Inns & Suites for AHLA. She has also served as ISHC President Emeritus.

In 2017, Berg founded the Castell project. Its mission is “To see women occupy more than one in three positions at all levels of management and ownership of the hospitality industry. “ Through its initiatives, the project aims to “Reduce the friction that slows the rise of women as leaders”. Castell now has a community of over 300 female executives who connect with students through [email protected], over 1,000 women on its WSH list of potential speakers, and well over 100 women in its leadership development cohorts.

“Knowing Peggy since entering the hospitality industry on a professional level, she has always been a person who thinks outside the box. She’s the one who always asks “why?” “Or” why not? On his company, industry and community. At The Highland Group, she created The Extended Stay Report and The Boutique Hotel Report, both providing industry-critical data. She leads, innovates and inspires !! – Chuck Pinkowski, Owner of Pinkowski & Company and Chairman of the Hunter Award Committee

Talene Staab, Global Manager of Tru by Hilton, will present the award to Berg at the Hunter Conference on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. EST.
